The walleyes are coming alive as our water temp is nearing 54 degrees today.  The 10 day forecast is looking good with some temps reaching 79 during the day and 44 at night. While crank baits being the hot ticket today leaches will be very soon the walleyes we kept today were full of lake leaches.  If anyone is wanting to just catch fish now is the time, with the northerns biting very aggressively the day goes by very quickly with lots of action.  The walleye bite is really only days from being great.  Most walleyes now are 20-24 inches and pike are 27-33 inches. We have time left here in May and some days in June which most people think is the best time to go fishing.  Give me a call at 701 351-6058 Thank you.

April 23
The Walleyes are almost done with there spawning time on this end, 6 mile the Game and Fish are striping eggs today.  Normally ten days from now we should start some of the best jig and bobber fishing for walleyes.  So if you have time in May to make it out this year this should be the year.  Northerns spawned early this year I seen it to be April 6 in the areas that I am fishing.  Making them VERY active now thru end of May.  We did have some 8-10 pounders this past week but lots in the 3-5 pound area.  Two yesterday had two perch in there stomach that were spawning right now, both being over 11 inches.  The weather has been so nice this spring it has allowed us to go fishing many time this spring before spawn.  I have made some new package prices this year for 6 hour days that are a little more apealing to some people.  Give me a call and we can get you set up this year.

April 1
With Devils lake beening open year a round it sure makes it nice to be able to get out and fish on the nice days like today.  We got out the past couple days.  More so trying out the boats, live wells, bilge pumps making sure we have got everything taken out of the ice fishing mode and back into proper spots in the boat.  With dropping a line in now and then looks to be ok we got one 5# walleye and 4 male 18" for supper and threw back some northerns.  I am going fishing today with everything ready, lets see what happens.

Ice is within a few days of being off!! Record Ice off is April 1st!! We might be setting a new record this year!!
Lets get in the boat and do some early spring fishing where Walleye season never closes, right before ice got to bad we were really catching some nice ones out there!! I was out looking today and I should be out there this week in my boat. I have a few reservations next week but with remaining dates open if you have cabin or Walleye fever!! Give me a call and lets set up some dates to do this. It will be fun.

January 4
We were out the past days just looking at structure to find the best spots that I can before my clients start showing up on Monday.  We find fish on some and not others but all and all it looks very good this year the best I have seen in the 5 years of guiding here on Devils Lake ND.  Mille Lacs Lake where I guided for 15 years I here they are have some less than favorable conditions on the ice.  Here I feel safe with the 14-15 inches of good solid ice despite the warm conditions.  It makes for wonderful days out fishing it feels like it should be March.  If you have time or wish to give Devils lake a try please call McQuoid Outdoors  at 701 351-6058.  I have time in later January and early February to handle your best ever fishing trip this year.  Perch, Walleye, and Northern I do it all right here.
December 31
Wow I forgot how nice it is to go fishing in a sno bear where you don't have to get all dressed up to go out in the cold.  Because you can control the climate inside my wife decided to come with tonight.  It was 3:15 when we left for the lake on the madden voyage of the year, the first spot we had marked 3 fish but no takers.  So we moved to another spot that I have never been in the winter time and at 4:30 we drilled those holes and by 5:15 we where done with these 10 great table fare walleyes and had but back two smaller ones.  So we ended up back by 5:30 and had supper in the oven.
If you would be interested in doing this please call McQuoid Outdoors at 701 351-6058

December 30th
Devils lake strikes again.  We had a great time fishing on some new water these past couple of days.  We had good perch action kept 10 walleyes and 2 limits of 5-7 pound pike.  We did get 3 inches of snow these past couple of days making it look like winter.  This year more than any other year I recommend that you hire a guide or ask lots of questions before going out we still have only 11-13 inches of ice.  We are driving out with trucks in some areas and atvs on the others.  With the warm winter so far the fish are all spread out still, but best of all they are biting good this year.
December 22
The walleyes are really on fire.  15-20 foot of water jigging minnow heads with Northland buck shot rattle spoons all colors thru out the day.  Perch are being found during the mid day bite a long with some very nice northerns.  We have been out the past 17 of 20 days the weather has been great it feels like March.  We have some time open coming up after Christmas if anyone wants to go harvesting fishing instead of just fishing.  Give our guide service a try we will take care of you.  Our ice condition are very good this year with no snow we are able to travel all over the lake.  I will be out for some time with family this year and I will be back soon to bring you the most up to date info.

December 16
We are finding lots of walleyes this year.  With no snow and good 10-12 inches of ice we are able to get a round any where we are wanting to go.  I have been putting on the miles this week pre fishing for you to understand where the best bite may take place.  Some very nice perch being caught today on this end of the lake.  I have not had clients this week as I have been out but the next four days should have good photos for you.  If you are looking for a fun day out fishing you will want to be coming here this year as we have a good population of hungry walleyes and jumbo perch.

December 8
Ice fishing is on we have been out for the past week and doing very well finding 7-10" of ice.  Perch fishing with 5 limits.  I mean holy cow 100 perch in 4 hours what a morning.  Walleye fishing is doing very good also.  Today we had kept our 9 nice keepers and released some smaller walleyes.  Six northerns made it in to our tent.  With winds 25-30 and temps at 10 degrees, that put us in negative numbers not much moving around the lake today.  Looks like this weekend will be warm and the fish will really bite.  Give me a call if you have time for a fun filled day of fishing.

November 25
The ice is getting close some have been going out close to shore and finding some nice walleyes all ready this year.  I have been out just enough to see the ice condition and see progress.  When I was their the other day we had 5 inches.  With warm weather this week we may not make much but so far with no snow on the lake that will help.  The two guys that I talked to had 5 walleyes for the night all nice 18-20 inches.  I hope to get out Monday, Tuesday before the St. Paul Ice fishing show in MN December 2,3,4.  We are looking or a great year again this year with the fishers Dept. saying we have had three great year hatching for Northern, walleye and the perch.  This summer we seen huge population of 11-14" that should be 13-16" for this winter.  Our perch fishing was good starting back in February last year and hope to find them again this year.  This summer again we had some days of walleye fishing catching 10-15 nice perch pulling spinners.  This year again we have new product from Eskimo.  The most comfortable pop up version made it is insulated making for no frost and warmer inside fishing.  New fl-20 vexilar are on their way.  Northland has come out with some new ideas as well.  Hope to see you out on the ice.  Call 701-351-6058 if you are looking for a great gift idea for someone in your family.  Ask for the best cyber Monday saving a round.

Sept.13
I have been out every day this past week and the bite is still very good.  Friday we went out late and got a quick limit of walleyes and than got into the white bass with a 3 3/4# being the biggest, what fun, flat clam so we were chasing around the feeding fish that were on the top of the water.  Hunt an attack idea worked well and was a good change from walleye fishing.  Thursday we had three 8-12# pike some walleyes and a dozen white bass, for flat clam I thought that was good.  Wednesday another great day with clam winds, we ended up with 6 walleyes over 4# and a limit of good eaters, and two monster pike between 10-18#s.  The Weather looks like maybe frost for Wednesday Thursday this week witch will bring down the water temp I am hoping it will trigger a fall bite on big fish pulling cranks or jigging over some favorite rock humps.  I still have time in Sept. or Oct. for some of Devils Lake finest fishing. Give me a call I will satisfy the hunger.  This weeks web brag board.

The bite is still on with many good keeper walleyes each day.  Mornings have been best when you have a little wind.  Pulling crawler harnesses in 8-15 foot of water being most productive.  With the morning fishing being so good and close to home I have put out a special deal for this September, take a look at it and give me a call.  You just can't go wrong with a deal like this.  White bass are still up in the shallows on jigs.  With some nice 4-8# pike mixed in when your walleye fishing.

July 7
Fishing has been very good with numbers of walleyes of 40-80 per day lots of small ones to weed thru.  But with many in the 15-20 inch areas coming from the weeds bobber fishing.  Casting is still good but the weeds are growing making some spots harder than others to fish.  We have some room left with our guides to make your trip memorable.
June 10th

The bite is on with some great and exciting strikes from shallow water and your hooked on Devils lake fishing.  Walleyes that bite like bass and being fished like bass this time of year is so fun it is hard to describe to fisherman that have not fished this way before.  Fishing trophy walleyes in one to six foot of water that was land two months ago.  Fishing with plastics or crank baits it gets your blood pumping.  Lots of very nice two to four pound fish coming in.  Lets not forget the 20 or so released monster walleyes that were seven to eight pounds with the biggest one at 10.2# caught by a Nebraska guy.  With pike around any corner waiting to bite off any lure that does not have a wire leader on.  Most of these toothy critters are three to eight pounds with a occasional 12 to 20 pound not unheard of.  With 20 fish limits white bass are starting to bite also giving most angers some thing else to catch.  Our average bass topping the scales at 2#s but really big bass are 4#.  If any of this sound like what you like to do give Aaron a call 701-351-6058 I still have some days open.

May11
The walleye bite has been good for the guys getting out both by shore and by boat.  This year so far has been more work because of the high water.  I have been out and about these past three days and the bite has been 20+ walleyes per day for only one guy, just imagine how many you could catch if you where here.  We have opening left in May if you have cabin fever and need to get out and do some fishing.  Last minute reservations are ok.  The nice thing now is it feels like there is no one out here on the lake, so the solitude of being on your own 187,000 acre lake with an over abundant amount of walleyes and pike is kind of like heaven but yet still here on earth.
New ramps are going in and should be done by June 1.

May 1
With high winds today and yesterday the ice is unofficially off the lake.  Water has come up in our little town but we are not giving up.  We will be here all this year for sure.  Traveling from out of town take 94 to 281 up to Minnewaukan to bypass all road construction.  We will be starting on a new improved boat ramp to be done as soon as possible just south of town right on 281.  With Pelican Lake later in the summer.   The guys that are getting out from shore have been doing good.  Many limits are coming from the current areas with leeches and minnows on light jigs.  More reports should start to happen soon now we can get out of the house and fish in comfortable big boats and not waders. More reports soon.
